The blanket of night falls slowly,
darkness gradually dissipating
as the sounds of sunrise emerge
from the silence all around.

Roosters crow,
marking a new beginning,
while their feathered brethren soar,
alone or in flocks,
‘cross the morning sky.

The rising lamp
obliterates the last of the darkly cloak:
a light unmatched,
flooding the world.
Illumination from The One
Who brings forth
day from night.
Again
and again
and again.

His warmth gentle at first,
preceding the blaze
which will surely follow,
on this mid-Summer’s morning,
just days before
the masses return to the rat race
of work and school…
a long year ahead,
its contents known
only to God.

Yet we hope
for success.
Optimism after this rest.
Putting forward our best
in life’s constant tests.

And,
should events head South,
Have faith,
be in no doubt
that beyond every storm,
the calm awaits…
After each darkness,
the light will be great.

We are here
for a time that’s limited.
Nothing lasts forever.
Our last sunrise is coming.
So seek God’s pleasure…
